Teen Reading Lounge at local libraries
April 11th, 2012The Pennsylvania Humanities Council sponsored the Teen Reading Lounge program as a pilot and worked with librarians Heather Smith at Eastern Lancaster County Library, David Yake at Bridgeville Public Library, Liz Kostandinu at Plum Borough Community Library and Michele Kushmeder at Hazleton Area Public Library. The second pilot began in the fall of 2011.
In the program the teens read books like The Hunger Games trilogy, graphic novels like Ghostopolis and participated in art projects and hands-on activities. Teens at Bridgeville Library took archery lessons, an activity inspired by Katniss, The Hunger Games heroine.
