At Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, we believe in the richness of diversity, and we build community, enable learning, provide access and value people.
The Library Service Manager (LSM) of Public & Reader Services at the Main Library will embody those values. They will engage the community of readers and adult learners by leading an accomplished team of professionals in designing and providing services and programs for the community in this historic destination location. The LSM oversees the successful implementation of CLP Service Standards in all of the functions of the New and Featured department – the first point of contact for most visitors to Main Library. The LSM will continuously improve and advocate for welcoming policies and engaging spaces that serve community needs and trends. The successful candidate will have a passion for library services for readers and a willingness to represent and lead these services within the Main Library, and work collaboratively as part of a complex, multi-location, user-oriented library system.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in serving diverse communities and leading the design, execution and evaluation of innovative and community-oriented services. Through authentic leadership, they will motivate the professional staff and leverage their considerable expertise. The LSM should be flexible, cooperative and accomplished at creating and maintaining partnerships. We seek a collaborative peer to work with other managers to weave together the specialized services at the Main Library to build a continuum of seamless service and programs for our visitors. The LSM will also work closely with the Coordinator of Adult Programming and the Office of Programs and Partnerships to grow innovative programs and services system-wide, across the city of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
