Information Services Assistant (Butler Area Public Library)

Located in the heart of Butler County, Pennsylvania, the Butler Area Public Library is looking for a dynamic, innovative candidate to fill the full-time information services assistant position.

The information services assistant provides technical support and provides guidance to patrons navigating the Library’s extensive reference, genealogy, and local history collections. 

Applicants should possess a degree in Library Science, Archival Management, or Public History, with at least two years of related experience. Knowledge of genealogy preferred.

The successful candidate should enjoy working with the public, be prepared to instruct patrons on how to use various technological devices and have a working knowledge of computers.

FBI and Pennsylvania Criminal Background and Child Abuse History clearances required.

Beginning Salary Range: $33,000-$35,000 DOQ.  Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, and pension plan. Paid vacation, sick days, and holidays. 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. This position requires staffing the information services desk one evening per week, one Saturday per month and approximately 23 daytime hours. The remaining hours are spent staffing the genealogy/local history department.
