Job Summary: The Library Administrator for Neighborhood Libraries continuously improves the patron experience of neighborhood locations, ensuring that the library’s commitment to literacy, exploration and community connection is realized equitably and consistently. The Library Administrator cooperates with peers at the system level in the design, provision and evaluation of activities and services to readers, researchers and users of all ages. The core focus of the position is the provision of services at CLP’s small neighborhood locations and serving in support of all Neighborhood Libraries.
The Library Administrator works collaboratively as a member of the Public Services management team, under the supervision of the Assistant Director Neighborhood Libraries. In the absence of the AD, the LA serves as the representative and leader of Neighborhood Libraries. The Library Administrator motivates, supervises and evaluates assigned staff – primarily managers and supervisors of other staff and members of the substitute pool – builds effective teams and manages change in an evolving organization. They actively participate as a member of system-wide management groups to effect change, implement strategies and contribute to long and short-range direction of the Library. They support location managers to anticipate and advocate for community needs while keeping a system-wide perspective and represent CLP during engagement with the community. They work closely to ensure that staffing is aligned with location needs and to ensure organizational excellence. They work collaboratively with Administrative and Support departments to achieve strategic goals of the Neighborhood Library locations and public services in general.
