From our Executive Director

The past days have been extremely challenging for our larger community, but it is clear that so many selfless people are helping us weather the challenges.  Acts of kindness abound, neighbors are supporting one another, families are spending more time together than ever. Out of the gloom and anxiety of the COVID-19 crisis, there is much to reassure and encourage us.  Nature is surely not missing the exhaust from our cars, flowers are still blooming, and deer are wandering the university campuses.  It does seem like we all need to take a moment to breathe deeply and trust that we can not only survive, but thrive once more.

Libraries are committed to helping with that.  When children are bored or adults need some relief – check out the amazing resources libraries have to offer right now.

There are all kinds of virtual programs – from science experiments to story times, online book discussions, and mini classes. There is online reference support to answer your many questions or connect you with other community service agencies.

Local library websites are full of ideas for you. Need help finding your library?  Use this handy Library Finder:

Be sure to check out the eLibrary to find digital books, videos, music, even magazines!

Don’t have a library card – no problem, you can do that online, too.

The free wi-fi at local libraries is usually accessible from their parking lots (practice appropriate social distancing and remain in your vehicle, though).

So you see – our buildings may be closed, but our library service is going strong!  Visit us online now – and when we’re all free to congregate again, visit us in person.  We’d love to meet you!
