The Peters Township Public Library is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time position of Technology & Makerspace Librarian. This candidate will ideally possess a creative background, enthusiasm for technology and Makerspace programming, and a basic knowledge of IT troubleshooting.
This position will:
- Oversee and manage the Makerspace by:
- Designing and presenting creative programs on the equipment in the Makerspace for library patrons and the library staff
- Assisting and monitoring patrons working with the equipment in the Makerspace
- Having the ability to troubleshoot Makerspace equipment, including but not limited to:
- Brother ScanNCut Digicut Cutter
- Janome Sewing Machine and Embroidery Machine
- Cricut Maker 3
- MakerBot software and equipment
- iMac with content creation software
- Conduct technology classes for library patrons, especially on library eResources
- Train, assist, and monitor library patrons and staff on the use of the library’s technological resources including use of computer hardware and software as well as Makerspace equipment
- Assist patrons in use of library and online resources including troubleshooting hardware and software problems that occur while using public access PCs and handling questions that arise from patrons downloading digital resources
- Liaise with Township system administrator and library management team to solve IT issues, keep library technology updated, and make recommendations for new technology
Basic Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school
- Three years of professional library experience
- Candidates with programming and Makerspace experience will be given preference
- PA State Police criminal history check, PA Child Abuse clearances, FBI fingerprints
Compensation and Scheduling:
- Salary range of $55,788 to $67,000
- Benefits package includes healthcare, dental, and vision coverage, retirement plan, professional development support, paid holidays, vacation, and personal time, and access to the Township’s Employee Assistance Program
- Daytime hours, one regular evening per week and one Saturday per month, evenings and weekends as needed for programs
- Full time 37.5 hours/week
