Youth Services Librarian (Crafton Public Library)


The Crafton Public Library is accepting applications for the position of a full time Youth Services Librarian.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Design, promote, execute, and evaluate:
  • Library programs for children’s, tweens, teens, and families and special events
  • Outreach/visits to local schools, daycares, and similar institutions
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners such as Family Place Libraries™ and WQED’s Inquire Within
  • Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to parents and children
  • Perform collection development/collection management activities as assigned
  • Collect statistics on programs and attendance, and complete reports as necessary
  • Assist in maintaining library social media and webpage
  • Collaborate with other staff on library projects and events
  • Perform circulation desk duties as assigned
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities and professional development

  • Knowledgeable about children’s, young adult, and adult resources in all formats



  • Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program OR an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to Early Childhood Education/Development
  • Experience working as a children’s librarian or working with youth preferred
  • Act 34 Criminal Record Check, Act 151 Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprint Clearances required immediately upon hire


This is a full time, 40 hour per week position with evening and Saturday hours. Compensation begins at $16 per hour.
