ACLA has been working with a very talented group of interns this summer on a variety of projects. Sydney, Courtney and Rory have been creating ACLA’s social media content. They have been sharing information about library resources and programs on all of ACLA’s channels, including Facebook and Instagram. Give us a follow and check out all the great work they’ve been doing! Sydney and Courtney have wrapped up their time with ACLA at the end of the summer, but Rory will be continuing his internship through the spring.

Courtney Craig
Hi! My name is Courtney Craig, and I am one of the ACLA social media interns! I recently graduated with a B.A. in Public Relations and Advertising, with a minor in Sports, Arts, Entertainment, and Music Business from Point Park University. Through my academic career I have been given the opportunity to expand my experience of social media by filming, editing, and posting the content on the Pittsburgh Playhouse TikTok page.
Originally from Fort Washington, PA, Pittsburgh has been my new home for the past four years, and I have gained some of the most valuable experiences of my life from living here. This internship gave me the opportunity to bring awareness to my favorite part of Pittsburgh, the libraries!
While in my position, I created daily content that highlighted ACLA’s World Languages Capsule Collection, early literacy tips, StoryWalks, the American Girl Doll Lending Library, and more! This work has further emphasized the importance of accessibility and resources that the library provides to the community.
When I am not working on social media, I enjoy cooking, going to see musicals, reading, and watching movies. While exploring other aspects of the Pittsburgh area is still relatively new to me, it is my goal to visit all of the Pittsburgh staples!
Rory Garofalo
Hello, my name is Rory Garofalo, I am currently one of ACLA’s social media interns! I am currently a student at the Community College of Allegheny County, majoring in Marketing. Through my experiences academic and personal I have become very passionate for promoting for organizations in ways that utilize my communication skills for the benefit of all.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. This internship opportunity has allowed me to use my skills and experience for the greater good of the community that I have known and grown with and seeing my work impact them.
Within my position here at ACLA, I focus on the social media. Specifically aiming towards the all ages audience, creating posts that hook our audience in and inform them of events/news at the local facilities!
Whenever not working on my tasks for this internship, you can find me listening to music, and scoping out different parts of the city for new places to frequent. I have a strong appreciation for literature and all forms of art, often devoting days in the library to a deep dive of genres.
