ACLA has been actively engaging with State elected officials over the past several months in Harrisburg as well as here in the County. Executive Director Marilyn Jenkins met with leadership in Harrisburg recently to discuss state funding. A follow-up briefing was held in Pittsburgh hosted by Senator Guy Reschenthaler and the Allegheny Conference on Community Development. ACLA continues to carry the message of the critical role libraries play in local communities, particularly in supporting education. Whether it is kindergarten readiness, curriculum support, or adult lifelong learning, library programs and services are essential to our communities. This message was further reinforced at several regional open houses for elected officials. A special thank you goes to Green Tree Public Library, Northland Public Library, Oakmont Carnegie Library, and Whitehall Public Library for their hospitality.
