eiNetwork Receives $150,000 Grant from Henry L. Hillman Foundation to Upgrade Network Infrastructure Across Allegheny County Libraries

Pittsburgh, PA – [June 23, 2025] – eiNetwork is pleased to announce it has once again received generous support from the Henry L. Hillman Foundation, this time in the form of a $150,000 grant to replace and upgrade network switches at libraries throughout Allegheny County.

This new initiative will modernize critical infrastructure across Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA) and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) locations. The project builds on eiNetwork’s ongoing efforts to strengthen digital access and connectivity for library patrons and staff.

“Reliable connectivity is a critical piece of library services in today’s digital world, as libraries expand their services to provide educational and professional development, recreational resources, and support community initiatives,” said Carlos Correa (eiNetwork Executive Director). “Thanks to the continued support from the Henry L. Hillman Foundation, we’ll be able to ensure our member libraries have the network infrastructure they need to deliver fast, stable, and secure internet/application access to the communities they serve.”

Network switches—responsible for directing data traffic across library infrastructure—are essential for delivering Wi-Fi, public computing, and access to digital resources. Many existing switches in the county’s libraries are nearing end-of-life and lack the performance needed for today’s demands and future growth. This grant will allow eiNetwork to replace existing equipment with next-generation switches, improving speed, security, and reliability across the board.

“We are proud that the Henry L Hillman Foundation has chosen to continue the partnership with eiNetwork.  These generous grants allow eiNetwork to strengthen digital infrastructure in libraries throughout Allegheny County,” said Lawrence Anderson (eiNetwork Operations Manager). “These upgrades will make a meaningful difference in the everyday experiences of library patrons across the region.”

This project follows the successful 2024 wireless access point replacement initiative, which was also made possible by a grant from the Henry L. Hillman Foundation. Together, these infrastructure improvements reflect a shared commitment to bridging the digital divide and supporting equitable access to technology in every community.
