Public Services Coordinator

Full Time: 40 hours per week

 

SUMMARY: The Public Services Coordinator works to support and expand the public facing aspects of library service on behalf of the libraries and residents of Allegheny County.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve on county library committees and work groups to assist and support countywide initiatives.
  • Assist with advocacy activities including creating content, managing visits, and supporting the libraries and ACLA HQ.
  • Manage and oversee projects that involve programs and services in libraries, including grant funded activities.
  • Identify and coordinate professional development opportunities based on current trends in library service, needs within the system, and topics identified by countywide groups.
  • Build mutually beneficial partnerships, make appropriate connections with for-profit and non-profit groups, maintain existing relationships.
  • Identify partners to work with on programs for libraries and facilitate the movement of information between the partners and libraries.
  • Innovate and brainstorm new and transformative ideas for programs and services that the team can collaborate on.
  • Manage the outward facing communications for ACLA including, but not limited to newsletters, social media, and website.
  • Manage the inward-facing communication tools for ACLA including SharePoint and wiki.
  • Represent ACLA at meetings, events, and workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS: Knowledge of current trends in library service. Interest in innovation and creativity. Willingness to be an engaged team member. Confidence in public speaking and presentation abilities. Strong interpersonal skills. Effective communication skills. Ability to design and follow a workplan.

 

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years progressively responsible library experience. Demonstrated involvement in collaborative work.

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS: $48,000-$54,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Healthcare, including eye and dental. 403b retirement with contribution. Paid time off.
