Summer is right around the corner and the Allegheny County Library Association (ACLA) is pleased to announce another summer of virtual programming beginning June 14. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic guidelines, the need for remote programming from partners that garner the largest audiences is still necessary and important.
We are pleased to have partner organizations highlighting eight weekly themes. These partners include, but are not limited to the Allegheny County Parks, Allegheny Land Trust, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. In addition, libraries across Allegheny County continue to provide virtual programming and grab and go kits, as well as limited in-person options.
The popular weekly bingo cards will return as well! Challenges on the bingo card include reading prompts and activities related to the theme or presenter with the goal of providing families with multiple screen-free options to entertain children. Those that submit cards after completing a bingo will be entered to win various prizes from the partner organizations.
Programming in June will feature Phipps Conservatory and Botanic Garden, Allegheny Land Trust, Allegheny County Parks and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will provide nature exploration prompts. Posts will also include information for caregivers and schedules for all the programs happening at libraries in Allegheny County.
Full details regarding the program that runs through August 13 can be found at aclasummerreading.org and by following ACLA Youth Services on Facebook (@aclayouthservices). See you this summer!
